The scope of Committee’s activities covers clinical sciences related to the medicine. The Committee undertakes activities aimed at development of medical disciplines represented by the Committee, using its achievements for the national good. The activities include:

  1. Analysis and assessment of the state of science as well as giving opinions on the science policy in the country, mainly the directions of development and research priorities in specific scientific disciplines represented by the Committee.
  2. Cooperation with government bodies, particularly with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Ministry of National Education, Central Council of Higher Education, regarding the assessment of the state and level of disciplines represented by the Committee as well as research priorities and the directions of their development.
  3. Initiation of research, creation and development of educational institutions, pertaining to disciplines represented by the Committee, and the assessment of research programs and the scope of activities of research institutions on motion of controlling government bodies and the authorities of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
  4. Cooperation in popularization of research results and works as well as implementation of the research results in disciplines represented by the Committee to the social and industrial practice; in order to fulfill those duties, organization of i.a. discussions and scientific conferences.
  5. On motion of government bodies, the authorities of the Polish Academy of Sciences and on its own initiative, development of expert reports and consulting as well as presentation of opinions pertaining to disciplines represented by the Committee and issues that are particularly significant in social, industrial and cultural development of Poland.
  6. Assessment and presenting opinions regarding the level and needs of publishing houses dealing with scientific disciplines represented by the Committee as well as conducting publishing activities.
  7. Analysis and assessment of graduate and postgraduate programs, presenting opinions regarding teachers’ training, stimulating the participation in scientific activities in Poland, ensuring the development of young teachers of disciplines represented by the Committee as well as creating motions on the forms of professional and science education.
  8. Developing cooperation with national and international scientific organizations, associations and centers.
  9. Creating domestic units of multinational unions and scientific associations.
  10. Reviewing profiles of candidates for corresponding members of the Polish Academy of Sciences regarding disciplines represented by the Committee.
  11. Submitting applications for scientific awards and giving opinions on such applications regarding disciplines represented by the Committee.
  12. Other issues commissioned by the authorities of the Academy or undertaken on Committee’s own initiative.
