The scope of the Committee's activity covers clinical sciences in the field of medicine. The Committee's tasks include undertaking actions aimed at the development of the medical specialities represented by the Committee and application of their achievements for the good of the country, in particular:

  1. Analysing and assessing the state of science and presenting opinions on the country's scientific policy, in particular: research development directions and priorities in the scientific disciplines represented in the Committee.
  2. Cooperating with government bodies, in particular: the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of National Education and the General Council for Higher Education, on issues pertaining to the assessment of the state, level, research priorities and development directions of the disciplines represented by the Committee.
  3. Initiating research and the establishment and development of scientific centres in the disciplines represented in the Committee as well as assessing research programmes and the scope of activity of scientific institutions at the request of the government bodies overseeing these institutions and the authorities of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
  4. Cooperating in the area of dissemination of research findings and scientific works and implementation into the social and economic practice of research findings in the disciplines represented in the Committee, and organising scientific discussions and conferences, among other things, for that purpose.
  5. Drawing up expert reports commissioned by government bodies, the authorities of the Polish Academy of Sciences and on the Committee’s own initiative, as well as providing scientific advice and presenting scientific opinions on issues within the scope of activity of the Committee and issues of significance to the country's socio-economic and cultural development.
  6. Assessing and presenting opinions on the level and needs of scientific publishing houses in the area of the sciences represented in the Committee and carrying on publishing activity.
  7. Analysing and assessing curricula of pre- and postgraduate education, presenting opinions pertaining to teaching academic staff and conducting activities designed to stimulate participation in the country's scientific life and ensure development of the young academic staff in the areas within the Committee's scope of activity as well as formulating conclusions concerning the forms of professional and scientific development.
  8. Initiating and maintaining cooperation with international and foreign scientific organisations, societies and centres.
  9. Establishing domestic sections of international unions and scientific associations.
  10. Giving opinions on the candidates for corresponding members of the Polish Academy of Sciences in the disciplines represented by the Committee.
  11. Submitting proposals and giving opinions on the proposals of scientific awards in the disciplines represented by the Committee.
  12. Other issues delegated by the authorities of the Academy or undertaken on the initiative of the Committee.
